Bregenz
About Bregenz
Bregenz, the capital of Vorarlberg, sits on the eastern shore of Lake Constance (Bodensee) where Austria meets Germany, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. This compact lakeside city is famous worldwide for its Bregenz Festival, where opera is performed on a spectacular floating stage on the lake.
With the Pfänder mountain rising directly behind it, Bregenz offers a unique combination of lakeside leisure and Alpine adventure. The charming medieval Upper Town (Oberstadt), modern waterfront architecture, and easy access to four countries make it a fascinating base for exploring the Bodensee region.
