Klagenfurt
About Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia (Kärnten), is a sunny lakeside city in Austria's southernmost province. Sitting on the shores of the Wörthersee — one of Europe's warmest alpine lakes — it blends Italian-influenced architecture, a Renaissance Old Town, and a laid-back Mediterranean feel rarely found this far north.
With its dragon fountain landmark (the Lindwurm), beautiful lake promenades, and proximity to both Slovenia and Italy, Klagenfurt is a multicultural crossroads with excellent food, warm summers, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes visitors linger longer than planned.
