Višegrad
About Višegrad
Višegrad is a small town in eastern Bosnia, immortalized by Nobel Prize-winning author Ivo Andrić in his novel "The Bridge on the Drina." The town's centerpiece is the magnificent Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge — a 16th-century Ottoman masterpiece and UNESCO World Heritage Site spanning the emerald Drina River.
Beyond the bridge, Višegrad has reinvented itself with Andrićgrad (Andrić Town), a cultural complex built by filmmaker Emir Kusturica. The surrounding mountains and the Drina canyon offer outstanding natural beauty, making Višegrad a compelling stop for history and nature lovers alike.
