About Roskilde

Roskilde is one of Denmark's oldest and most historically significant cities, located just 30 minutes west of Copenhagen. Once the capital of Denmark, it is home to a UNESCO-listed cathedral where 39 Danish kings and queens are buried, and a world-famous Viking Ship Museum.

Today, Roskilde is equally known for hosting Northern Europe's largest music festival every summer. Despite its rich history, the city has a youthful energy thanks to its university and cultural institutions. A perfect day trip from Copenhagen or a rewarding overnight stay.
