Debrecen
About Debrecen
Debrecen is Hungary's second-largest city and the cultural capital of the Great Hungarian Plain (Alföld). Known as the "Calvinist Rome" for its strong Protestant heritage, Debrecen played a pivotal role in Hungarian history — the country's independence was declared here twice. Today it's a vibrant university city with excellent thermal baths, wide boulevards, and the vast Hortobágy National Park nearby.
