Győr
About Győr
Győr is a Baroque gem in northwestern Hungary, sitting at the confluence of three rivers — the Danube, Rába, and Rábca. Often overlooked by tourists, this compact city boasts the third-largest collection of historic buildings in Hungary after Budapest and Sopron. Its beautifully restored old town is filled with pastel-colored Baroque facades, atmospheric squares, and a thriving cultural scene.
As the home of the Audi factory and a major university, Győr has a youthful, prosperous energy. It's also a convenient base for day trips to the Pannonhalma Archabbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
